Elizabeth Baldin
I studied Graphic Design at what is now known as UWE in Bristol. I qualified with a BA (Hons) and then embarked on a successful career as a book designer. I left publishing in order to devote time to my great love of painting. I first exhibited my paintings in 2011 and never looked back.
Currently I am concentrating on working with watercolours and acrylic inks to create impressionist-style landscapes using lively brushwork and dynamic colour combinations. Over the years I have worked in oils, acrylics and watercolours, and striven to develop my techniques in all media.
I love teaching adults to paint and aim to keep my workshops informal and friendly – it shouldn’t feel like school. I am used to working with classes of mixed abilities and therefore I demonstrate techniques throughout the course so that students learn skills which they take away into their future painting practice.
Exhibitions & Qualifications
BA (Hons) in Graphic Design
Book Illustrations for ‘Wild and Free’ by Dominic Cousins
Member of the Reading Guild of Artists
Exhibited at Contemporary Art Fairs in Windsor and Reading
Prints of my work are available form John Lewis and Dunelm
Inspirations
My favourite artist is the Spanish Impressionist Sorolla – his work captures sunlight so beautifully, something I would love to be able to do. But in an ideal world I would be a portrait painter, if only I could devote enough time to practise it.
Interests
I am a keen walker and go on regular hikes with a group. I also enjoy life drawing classes and am trying to create enough space in my life to fit in more regular sessions.
