Sai Banerjee
Hello! I am Sai, an experienced teaching artist, art historian and calligrapher, committed to promoting creativity as a wellness practice through art and calligraphy.
As a former University lecturer, I have always had a passion for teaching and learning. Based on my personal experience with grief and loss, I truly believe in the transformative power of art and its positive impact on our wellbeing. My goal is to share this awareness with others and help people connect with their creative selves.
Whether it's doodling in an art journal or practicing calligraphy, Mindfulness is an important part of my creative practice. As a multipotentialite, I have a wide range of interests and skills that I love to share with others. I love textiles and vintage buttons, and like to incorporate my love for slow stitching & embroidery in my art journals.
My approach to teaching is gentle and optimistic, focusing on the process rather than the outcome. My main aim as a teacher is to demystify the complexities of learning a new skill and provide my students with the knowledge and confidence they need to pursue their newfound interests.
I have a Phd in Art History from the University of Essex, specialising in Maya Art and culture. I am heavily influenced and inspired by various native artistic traditions, particularly Mexico, India and South America. My list of favourite artists would be far too long to share with you however, Frida Kahlo and Lisa Congdon are two of my favourite female artists. I also love the illustration style of Quentin Blake and Charlie Mackesy. There are too many Calligraphers around the world that I am in awe of but Michael Sull, Heather Held and Yves Leterme have had a profound impact on my Calligraphy journey.
I am the founder of Blue Palette Art Studio – a creative space that nurtures mindful creativity through art and calligraphy for adults and children. As a freelance Calligrapher, I work on exclusive projects and live events with some of the most prestigious luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Dior, Guerlain, Montblanc, and many others.
