Amanda Brown
I have always loved Sewing & Crafts and, coming from an artistic family, it was inevitable that l would have a profession with a creative side. After a two-week work experience at a Clothing Alteration shop when l was 15, l then spent the next 13 years learning a wonderful trade from my Armenian boss.
l have been a Seamstress since those early days and after a fantastic 28 years career l decided in 2013 that l would love to teach others, sharing my knowledge and passion of this craft that l love. Cotton Onto Sewing was born and I now run weekly workshops.
l have taught hundreds of students that have attended my classes in Dorset, and with whom I've shared my relaxed, artistic, enthusiastic, passionate teachings.
My inspirations come from many things and one of my favourite things is creating something out of nothing. Upcycling, recycling and making use of things that generally you would have thrown away. Thinking out of the box. Love that! I am most certainly a Visual Sewer. I see something and instantly know how it's been made.
Luckily for me, my job is my hobby. Always has been and always will be. l am now trying to start crochet! I am with a group of 4 ladies called Stitch4charity which raise money for local charities. To date, we are very proud to have raised over £15,000...
