Ever since I can remember I have loved creating, making, learning and doing. Art was my favourite subject at school, I loved its freedom, there was no wrong answer, just endless play and my amazing art teachers played a huge part in my desire to pursue art and design as I grew older. After studying for a degree in interior and product design, I found myself working as a florists assistant in a local shop which subsequently turned into a 20 year love affair! It turns out that, for me, the process of ‘creating’ something is just as important as the sense of achievement from producing the finished product.
I immersed myself everyday in the colours, the scent, the forms and never once felt that I was ‘working’. it was a joy, and a privilege and I didn’t want it to end. The owner’s elegant and forward thinking style saw us commissioned to create flowers for well known celebrities and brands and install weddings at venues such as The Mandarin Oriental, in London. Designing and creating flowers for the film The Other Boleyn Girl in
2008 was a particular highlight.
Following the birth of my two children, I knew a change was likely on the way, and I began the foray back into interior design where I spent over 8 years as a Home Design Stylist at John Lewis & Partners in Newbury. Following the sudden closure of the store last year, I find myself reconnecting with all the skills, knowledge and experience that I have gained over the years and feel the time is right to share my passion for floristry and
interior design and empower others to immerse themselves in creating, making and exploring.
I believe that the power of creativity is innate in all of us, an untapped energy source, that if utilised, is always time well spent.
