Clare Clensy

Clare Clensy (also known professionally as Clare Hanham) trained as an apprentice for three years at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. On completing her apprenticeship, she established her own business 'Vine Embroidery' based at her studio in Hilperton. Clare takes on a variety of individual commissions from restoration work to new pieces, completion of unfinished projects, and professional mounting and stretching of work. She also teaches at a number of colleges and runs workshops for Guilds and stitching groups, along with her own weekly classes and talks.
Career Highlights and Achievements
During her time at the palace she learnt a range of embroidery techniques including restoration, regimental embroidery, church work, silk shading, gold work, white work, stumpwork, crewel work and canvas work, among others.Clare has produced her own range of embroidery kits which cover most traditional hand embroidery techniques. She is the author of A Beginners Guide to Silk Shading (Search Press) and has written many magazine articles.
