Liz Dixon

I am a predominately self-taught textile sculptor & mixed media artist starting December 2012 following a career change from 26 years in Engineering, prompted by a need to fit work around a young family.
My sculptures & mixed media canvases are made from recycled textiles & found items in conjunction with Powertex fabric hardener (& related products), producing weather resistant structures for outdoor display.
In May 2014, I became a certified tutor of Powertex Art Supplies. I work from my home studio in Upper Boddington, Northants, & run workshops throughout Northamptonshire & Oxfordshire on selected dates or by private arrangement. My workshops all have a relaxed feel, taking students through the stages to create their piece of art or sculpture, whilst allowing plenty of opportunity for individual artistic expression.
I have exhibited my work at a number of UK exhibitions including:
South Northamptonshire Art Trail
Warwickshire Open Studios
Bucks Open Studios
Oxfordshire Art Weeks
Surrey Hills Sculpture Park, Guildford
Greenspace Gallery, Carmarthen
Church Lane Gallery, Banbury
Hayrack Gallery, Northants
Vitreus Art Gallery, Northants
I am a member of:
Banbury Artists Cooperative
South Northants Art Group
Visual Images Group
Part of the Powertex UK Design Team 2017
Authorised Powertex Training Academy 2019 - 2020
I have had Media coverage in the following publications:
Birmingham Post (2015)
Birmingham Mail (2015)
Banbury Guardian (Feb 2017)
Four Shires Magazine (Sept 2017)
W.I. Life Magazine (Oct 2017)
My art is inspired by the recycled materials around me – some found, some donated, some sourced for a specific task. Textiles & texture are the common themes running through each unique piece, with designs growing organically as each theme is developed.
I live at home with my husband, two children & two cats. My love trying new crafts & have recently tried glass blowing & stone carving. I love being by the sea & try to get to the coast as often as possible.
