Kelly Eldridge

I have always enjoyed making and creating things and love learning new skills and discovering how things work. I have a number of different interests, my cake decorating and sugar craft work developed through my love of baking, my like of doing favours for friends and my slight tendency toward being a perfectionist. I love creating something that looks so close to the real thing that it is hard to tell the difference, making sugar flowers that you try to smell because they look like they have just been picked.
I have in the past had various teaching roles and enjoy sharing and swapping skills and knowledge. I believe learning new skills should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience and try to create a fun atmosphere whilst working. I am happy to help people with things they are struggling with and try to impart some useful tips and tricks along the way.
Career Highlights and Achievements
I always feel that when it comes to my sugar craft work the biggest achievement is being asked to make someone's wedding cake and decorate it. For many people this is the biggest day in their lives and being trusted enough to create something that for them is a centre piece of their day I feel is a big privilege and often a big pressure to make it perfect and what they have always imagined.
Inspirations
I often find my inspiration in nature and the natural environment, I am a country girl and this is a theme that runs through many of the arts and crafts that I am involved with.
I am interested in many things, the big three being arts and crafts, history and the environment, luckily for me these three are often interlinked. I enjoy learning historical crafts which often involve working closely with, and having a good understanding of, the countryside and nature.
I enjoy bookbinding, crochet, country crafts, genealogy, and am an amateur potter.
