Gaynor Goffe
I have been involved in calligraphy for over 40 years, working to commission, for exhibition, and teaching internationally. I taught at the Roehampton Institute from 1981 to 1997 and at Reigate School of Art, where I originally trained, from 1997 to 2000.
I am a Fellow at the Society of Scribes & Illuminators and the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society.
I am particularly interested in italic and variations, capitals and variations, colour and collage, sometimes incorporating stone. I am left-handed.
Career Highlights and Achievements
I was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society in 2000. I have written two calligraphy books; 'Calligraphy Made Easy' and 'Calligraphy Step by Step' (with A. Ravenscroft).
In 2007, Linotype produced my typeface 'Hamada'.
Inspirations
I take much of my inspiration from the natural world and writings pertaining to it. I am also very inspired by cultures rooted in the land.
Other Interests
My other interests include animal welfare, ecology, green living, yoga and meditation.
