Nicky Hunter

Well known for her signature large scale contemporary watercolour floral paintings, but equally inspired by a range of subjects, her work is inspired by nature and ignited with colour; this is evident in her vibrant & expressive painting style where she aims to capture the light, beauty and radiance of subject matter with the translucent and magical properties of watercolour.
Her enthusiasm with the delightful yet challenging medium is evident in her artworks and her generous and energetic teaching style. Highly experienced tutoring loyal groups of students at her own studio in Buckinghamshire & tutoring and demonstrating watercolour painting nationally as a guest artist for distinguished art schools, art groups & societies. With plenty of demos and 1 to 1 personal guidance you will enjoy working with her and assured to learn a lot about watercolour techniques and improving your art works.
Nicky’s artworks are exhibited in local fine art galleries and have been exhibited in the Harmonies landscape exhibition at The Gallery Holt, a distinguished gallery in Norfolk showcasing well established UK artists.
The development of her painting & illustration skills & foundation for her love of painting florals comes from studying a diploma in art then a degree in textile design, with a varied & successful career as a textile designer spanning over 2 decades, creating printed patterns for international fashion designers & well known British & global brands. Further fine art training in recent years with well known watercolour professional artists have enhanced her skills and knowledge as well as studying masters from the impressionists and romantic Pre- Raphaelite eras, particularly John singer Sargent.
Nicky enjoys other creative activities including dancing.
