Eiko Ishida
I am a Japanese calligraphy artist with over 20 years’ professional experience. I started learning calligraphy at the age of 7 when my parents sent me to a local calligraphy school in Osaka, Japan. In my twenties I joined the Seikyu Shodo Kai, a calligraphy society founded by Seikyu Yamashita, President of the Japanese Calligraphy Education Society. As my master, Yamashita was the main influence in my development as a calligraphy artist. After 10 years in the society, I was given the professional calligraphy name, Eisai (英彩).
I moved to the UK with my family in 2000 and I currently run workshops at schools and for corporate events, working closely with Japan Society London. My focus is not only on teaching technique but using the process of learning Japanese calligraphy as a meditative way to discover inner peace and tranquillity.

My other interests are abstract painting. I love cooking and baking.
