Peta Keightley

I like to put everyone at their ease adopting a friendly, easy going manner when teaching so everyone feels comfortable to ask questions as they work. I’m very ‘hands on’ & I intend to give mini demonstrations throughout the day to explain processes as we progress.
I have had an interest with textiles in both my personal & working life for as long as I can remember! Having worked as a Textiles teacher in schools & in adult education, I’m now enjoying the Interiors Design & making business. I’ve enjoyed some success exhibiting with the Living Threads Group expressing textiles through print, stitch & related skills. I take great pleasure in producing items for interior spaces, including lampshades & cushions with a difference.
I taught Textiles in schools and in Adult education for 24 years plus. I went on to study City & Guilds in Soft Furnishings and also in Patchwork, applique, quilting & embroidery achieving both Part I & Part II.
I currently work for an Interior Design company, which is where I discovered a niche in the market for hand made lampshades. For several years, I exhibited with the Living Threads Group in Derbyshire.
I have had a passion for all ‘things’ textile related since I was a child. I take inspiration from the Impressionists & pattern found in different cultures. I also enjoy printing & stitch on to fabric.
