Sarah Maddison

 I am a textile artist but with plenty of mixed media. I learned my creative embroidery skills with City and Guilds but I have always taken a very fluid approach to working and hope I can teach in a fun way which stretches imagination and offers an organic approach to work – no endless samples, just get stuck in and work and let it grow.  I am always learning and try to move in my own style and my own way – rules are there to be broken.

I gained a coveted highly commended at the end of my C and G creative embroidery course. Since then am thrilled to say that I have had three very successful solo exhibitions in Hampshire. I have also worked and exhibited with another textile group in Suffolk and being part of the wonderful Art Arcade crew at FolkEast.  I have written several articles for stitch related magazines and enjoy working on charity projects such as the Letter in Mind exhibition.
 
I live near the Hampshire/ Wiltshire border and am constantly inspired by the ancient landscapes around me and their spirituality.  I am mad about hares and crows and standing stones and Suffolk. My favourite artists  are John Singer Sargent and Grayson Perry

Photography is hugely important to me and essential to my work and I am the keeper of Family history.
