Janina Maher
I have always loved drawing and painting, and have a self-confessed addiction to collecting papers of all types. I design and make handmade books from my garden based studio, and have been teaching mixed media techniques and creative bookbinding for several years. My aim is always to inspire confidence in my students through carefully structured exercises and gentle encouragement. I am an exhibiting member of the Reading Guild of Artists and regularly run workshops and courses in Reading and Oxford.
Career Highlights and Achievements
Winner of the March 2017 Anniversary painting Competition on PaintersOnline, for my painting of My a la Carte restaurant in Reading
Inspirations
My inspiration is drawn from the things I see around me - urban landscapes and flowers being particular favourites. I enjoy working in series and reinterpreting the same image in different media. I love colour so I find the work of the Fauves very inspiring. Modern day favourites include Shirley Trevena and Ann Blockley
Other Interests
I am also an avid water-skier, having competed nationally and internationally over the last decade.
