Jan Mehigan

My teaching style is on a one to one basis teaching each person as an individual allowing each to move at their own pace. I first studied calligraphy during a five year course at Art College. I am Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators (SSI) and an Honoured Fellow of the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society (HFCLAS). I have a BA (Hons) in Education and gained the Diploma of the Society of Botanical Artists (DipSBA).

 I have happily taught Drawing and Watercolour Painting and also Calligraphy in Adult Education for over 30 years and tutored day, weekend and week workshops for various organisations during that time, including the Society of All Artists (SAA). I have written several calligraphy books, some co-authored with Mary Noble, and contributed to other books and publications. My work has been in many calligraphic exhibitions, and  private collections and I have demonstrated at Art in Action.

• Fellow of CLAS, Fellow of Society of Scribes and Illuminators
• Diploma Society of Botanical Art
• Inscriptions in various Memorial books including Bosham Church and Chichester Crematorium.
• Large Illuminated Commissions: Falmouth City Council Mayoral Roll on Vellum
  
• Two large Vellum Freedom of the City for Portsmouth 1st Division Football Club
  
• Hanslope Church First World War Memorial Roll
  
• Also many small commission for various individuals.
