Samira Mian

I’m a budding artist and experienced educator with a passion for Islamic Geometry.
By tapping into my 12 years Secondary School Maths teaching experience and lifelong love of creativity, I share my passion for the compass and straight edge constructions of Islamic Geometric Patterns in the UK, abroad and online.
I relish the processes involved: from analysing and constructing the patterns to painting them in a distinctly contemporary style using watercolours and gouache. My biggest motivation is to bring these patterns and the immensely satisfying pursuits they involve to the widest possible audience.
I am inspired by the architecture of the Islamic Lands. The layers of beauty and details that surround you in these places is captivating. One of my biggest motivations is to share this intellectual & beautiful heritage created by nameless masters that came before us.
