Colin Palmer

Having completed an apprenticeship as a draughtsman, I decided I wanted to follow a more creative path, thus spending the next three years studying Architectural and Technical Illustration at art college in London.
After a career spanning some twenty years working in studios and agencies in and around London, I have settled in Marlborough, Wiltshire where I work as a freelance illustrator and a teacher of watercolour painting, specialising in buildings, architecture and associated subjects. Over the past fifteen years of teaching I have a reputation of bringing out the best in my students abilities with encouragement and easy to follow, step by step demonstrations.
Career Highlights and Achievements
I have been commissioned by many national and international organisations and have sold original paintings world wide from galleries who represent me as an artist. I have written articles for Artists & Illustrators magazine and frequently hold demonstrations at Art Societies as well as holding workshops classes in the South West.
Inspirations
I’ve always had an interest and fascination for buildings and architecture and my training at art college helped me develop my style for which I am well known. Over the years I have widened my interests somewhat and have expanded the range of my teaching subjects. I try to capture realism in my paintings but strive to achieve a sense of freedom of expression, whilst showing spontaneity and accuracy, often required in architectural illustration.
Other Interests
I am a keen mountain bike rider. Living in the beautiful Wiltshire country enables me to enjoys the wonderful views when out on my bike. I’m also a busy semi-professional musician, having been in numerous bands since my art school days.
