Pauline Payne

I studied three dimensional design, specialising in jewellery, at Portsmouth College of Art and Design. Working in silver and gold much of my jewellery is inspired by natural forms and is characterised by the contrasting use of different textures. Once established as a designer/maker I decided to utilise my skills and qualified as an adult tutor with the City and Guilds. I teach traditional silversmithing jewellery techniques using step-by-step instruction from choosing the correct materials to adding surface decoration and finishing. After completing set projects I encourage students to explore their own ideas with the help of inspirational resources. As well as teaching at Ardington I also teach at Ammerdown, Denman and The Oxford Summer School.

Other Interests
When not busy making or teaching jewellery I like gardening, visiting English Heritage sites or cruising on the river Thames in our boat.
