Heather Robertson
I’m inspired by the natural world around me, as well as the fantasy worlds in stories, myths, and legends. I try to combine my love of the natural and fantasy worlds using texture, form, and colour, to create something magical, tactile, and whimsical.
My aim when teaching is to equip each student with the hands-on skills and techniques needed to explore the medium of polymer clay, to play with the clay without any expectations, and to discover the joy and accomplishment that comes with new discoveries and creating something for themselves.
A little bit more about me
I love walks in the woods and old ruins with my husband, and am always on the hunt for mushrooms, funny looking plants, pebbles and rocks, and insects.
We’ll often come home with an odd-shaped branch, pebble or piece of bark, and a camera full of photos of mushrooms, spiders, and tree hollows.
I’m a huge Harry Potter, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, and Lord of the rings fan and a lot of my work has been inspired by those magical worlds.
I also have a very keen interest in what goes on behind the scenes in movie making, stage performances and prop design.
