Faith Young

I have been sewing for as long as I can remember and have tried most things from soft toy making to dressmaking, quilting, home furnishings and machine embroidery. Although I have enjoyed all of these, my favourite is hand embroidery.
I love the variety of techniques and stitches that hand embroidery uses. I particularly enjoy Silk Shading and Blackwork, although I regularly use a variety of embroidery techniques depending on the piece that I am working on. I use traditional methods and enjoy experimenting with these to produce both traditional and contemporary pieces.
I would like everyone to enjoy embroidery as much as I do, so have a relaxed and friendly style of teaching. The different stages/stitches are demonstrated first, before you work on your own piece with individual help given as required.
I recently completed my Certificate in Technical Hand Embroidery (Distinction). Awarded by the Royal School of Needlework. I am now working towards my Diploma.
I am passionate about hand embroidery and strive to produce excellent quality pieces. I am inspired by the diversity of embroidery and want to further explore the use of different techniques within one piece. Hopefully I can inspire other people to take up and enjoy hand embroidery as much as I do.
I also enjoy making small leather goods which is a fairly new hobby for me. But to make sure that I don’t spend all of my time indoors, I have two beautiful Labradors that I love walking. I can also be found cycling around the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.
