We’ll consider the moods of the sky – from imminent storms and summery azure skies. Interpreting clouds from photos and using a wide-ranging palette, we’ll see how to create an exciting mood using thick paint and expressive mark making.  Lin likes to run a relaxed and friendly class and you should be able to take a painting home – 35cm x 50cm (about 12” x 20”); complete, or almost complete.

Skills / Techniques covered:
  • Starting a painting using a tonal beginning
  • How to thin oils to make glazes
  • How to thicken oils to make impasto
  • Colour mixing with a palette knife
  • How to apply oils to the canvas

Materials:
All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £15 payable to the tutor during the course. ​The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.

  • kitchen roll

We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
