Note: This workshop includes cutting, sewing and gluing so some manual dexterity is needed
Further Detail
We will first prepare the covers, cutting these from greyboard, and covering with your choice from a selection of fabrics provided (thick patterned cotton), and then allowing these covers to dry.
Next we will trim paper and card into the correct size for the book and nest the trimmed sheets into ‘signatures’. The signatures will then by sewn together using traditional French link stitch, and the book spine will be reinforced with glue and tissue.
The final stage is assembly of the book, which is then pressed under weights until dry.
All steps are fully demonstrated and there will be group and individual help and support
