This course will teach you how to create beautiful patterned scarves and wraps using the flowers and leaves growing around us. You will learn how to lay out the leaves and flowers on fabric to create the best results, what mordants we need to use if any and how to wrap these bundles before putting them in the cooking pot. There will be discussions on the best type of foliage to use. We will be making samples before our finished pieces.

Materials
Materials are not included in your course fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £28, payable to the tutor during the course. This includes a silk scarf. Your tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book.

- Pencil / pen, notebook
- Old hand towel
- Pair of Marigold gloves
- Apron
- A selection of leaves (eg. walnut, St. John’s wort, horse chestnut, oak, rose, prunus and copper beech all work well), twigs, flowers (eg. rose petals), Eucalyptus is particularly excellent for eco-dyeing.
- The tutor will have habotai (pongee) silk scarf and fine woven merino wool scarf lengths for purchase and also fabric pieces for testing
