At the start of the course you'll be guided through project ( a ‘Learning Pack’ ) which your tutor has designed for you. Plans, patterns and materials will be provided free of charge in this Learning Pack. Once you have learned the process of integrating fabric collage with both machine and hand stitching, you will then be able to start interpreting your own designs in this way for the rest of the course with the materials you will need to bring with you.

Materials
Materials are not included in your course fee.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.
Please Bring With You
A selection of coloured photographs or magazine pictures of any subject which will act as your guide and inspiration. Choose uncomplicated images with clear distinctions of shapes, colours and tonal values
The * Means that Richard will supply spares of all the items below at no extra charge (so long as he remembers to bring them!)
NB it is important that you really do know how to use your sewing machine and are familiar with it in every way. If, however, you are new to using the darning foot / free motion foot, please ensure that you have practiced with it, even just a little, a few days before the course

- A sheet of tracing paper
- Sellotape
- A 2B graphite pencil
- Two pairs of scissors - one for paper, the other for fabric and thread*
- A small jar of PVA*
- A small brush for the adhesive*
- One square metre (approximately) of firm fabric such as hessian in any colour.*
- Lots of small scraps of all kinds of fabric sorted in reds, pinks, yellows, oranges, blues, greens, purples, whites, greys, blacks, browns and multicolours *
- An electric sewing machine, with which you are extremely familiar, and which drops or covers the feed, does the zigzag and possesses a darning foot -sometimes known as a free-motion foot
- Sewing machine Needles: size 80, 90 or even 100.
- All kind of yarns in your possession in the same colours as above.
- Some coloured pencils.
- A large eyed, sharp pointed needle, such as a ‘ Yarn Darner ’ *
