Tutor Alberto Atalla
10am - 4pm
This one-day, onsite workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some sewing experience.
Workshop Details
Got more socks than you know what to do with? Come and learn how to make Christmas Sock Monsters - You will exercise your creativity, skills and have fun. In this hand-sewing workshop, you are going to learn how to make a monster from a sock. This can be a lovely gift for Christmas, birthday, or maybe a way to relax your mind.
Following a simple paper pattern or perhaps just using your creativity and cutting skills, you are going to cut the shape of the monster and be able to make – according to your hand-sewing abilities – one, two or more Christmas Sock Monsters. In addition, you will have the opportunity to see different styles of monsters to use as inspiration and discuss with the tutor ideas that you might have for your own design. At the end of the day, you will take home the sample(s) that you have made and 3 paper-pattern to develop your future projects.
Skills and techniques covered
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. Most materials will be provided by the tutor at the cost of approximately £7 payable to the tutor during the class. This will cover 1 pair of socks (2 monsters), thread, felt fabric and buttons for details, and hollow fibre stuffing. If you wish to make more than 2 monsters or buy some socks for a future project, there will be an extra £3 charge for a second pair of socks. The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book.
Please bring with you
Feel free to bring your favourite colours of thread, felt fabric and buttons if you have a specific design idea that you would like to develop
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
