Tutor Amanda Hislop
10am - 4pm

This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for thse with some experience of working in mixed media

Workshop Details
A mixed media workshop exploring the shoreline in response to your own images and experience, creating evocative compositions which capture the subtle colour and textural qualities of sea and shore, using a combination of layered papers and fabric fragments, threads and fibres with acrylic colour.

The shoreline, the place where sea meets shore,  a varied intertidal space to explore and interpret; work with mixed media, collage and painting techniques on a box canvas to create a personal response to the shoreline. Enjoy an inspiring day exploring techniques to replicate the textures and colours found along the shoreline; rocks, pebbles and fossils, seaweed fishing nets and wire, rusted metal and driftwood, all inspiration for development into a personal abstract shoreline seascape. Respond to your own memories, found objects, sketches and photographs; alternatively use the resources supplied by the tutor to spark an idea.

  • Simplification and abstraction of source material
  • Interpretation of line, texture and colour
  • Use of limited colour palette
