Diego Velázquez is perhaps one of the greatest artists ever to have lived. His entrancing freehand technique is rightly admired by artists and art lovers from every generation. His compositions are entrancing and beguiling.
In this talk Martin examines the artist’s life and times and his themes and pictorial concerns. This talk also looks at the art of Spain during Velazquez' lifetime and the court of the Royal House of Habsburg.
Martin's popular Classics series is illustrated where possible with original photographs and slides. He will also provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following the talk.
The talk will last for 60 minutes, followed by an open Q&A session.
