Workshop Details
As we get closer to Christmas, we will be making a unique 3-sided Christmas bauble measuring approximately 9cm in height (excluding the ribbon). Each side is a mixture of hand embroidery and goldwork sewn onto a silk (or similar) background and finished with a ribbon, ready to hang on your tree.
During the day I will teach you how to hand embroider the motifs onto your background. Each of the sides has a different motif and is a mixture of embroidery stitches and goldwork. The goldwork will be couched onto the background and we will use stranded cotton for the embroidery. There will be a choice of stranded cotton colours for you to use. The three sides will then be cut out, padded with felt and constructed to make the bauble shape. Each seam is covered with a little more goldwork and to finish, a ribbon is attached at one end and a bell at the other. You will also receive a comprehensive set of instructions to take away with you which includes the techniques used, stitches and templates.

Materials are not included in your booking fee. Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £12.00, payable to the tutor during the class. The items you will need to bring with you are listed below.

Students - please bring with you:
- 10” embroidery hoop.
- 14” x 14” (36cm x 36cm) square of fabric (I have used a medium weight silk).
- 14” x 14” (36cm x 36cm) square of calico or white/cream plain cotton to use as a backing fabric.
- Thread to match your main fabric (only a small amount will be needed for the bauble construction). A machine or hand sewing thread is ideal.
