This LivePlus™ online workshop is ideal for beginners, but is open to everyone who fancies having a bit of fun with paint and clay!
Workshop details
Make your own shoal of sardines using simple linocutting techniques, printing and clay! A fun workshop to explore the possibilities of creating embossed decorative surfaces to make a shoal of fish, ready to hang and show off your ‘catch of the day’! And if you’re not feeling fishy the same techniques can be applied to any number of shapes….hearts, birds, flowers and foliage!
We will explore some simple techniques for making your own stamps using easy-cut lino (or polystyrene if you don’t have lino-cutting tools….not quite as crisp, but still works)– ready to print into clay to produce an embossed effect. We will use air-drying clay…..no kiln or specialist materials are needed. We will then decorate our clay fish with acrylic paints and gold pigment using different finishes and effects. A coat of high-gloss varnish to simulate a glaze and beads, wire and wood are the final flourish to finish off our fabulous fish!
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
