This one-day, onsite workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience
Workshop Details
Pyrography is very similar to using a pen or pencil. Anyone can create with Pyrography. With a little practice you will soon perfect the technique, mastering the use of pressure and speed of stroke on wood.
After giving a brief talk on the history of Pyrography, Bob will demonstrate various techniques along with the correct and safe use of the tools. You will begin by starting with simple tasks, working on things such as small plaques, coasters and key fobs. As your confidence grows so will the size of piece you can work on...things like plaques for picture making, cheese/bread boards etc. If you're worried about not being able to create a design or don't consider yourself artistic then you can use rubber stamps, stencils and transfer paper to help create designs.
Skills/Techniques Covered
Materials
Materials are not included in the workshop fee. The tutor will supply all the materials for a fee of £5 payable to the tutor on the day. There will be a good selection of blanks to work on costing from £2 to £7 also payable to the tutor during the day. All tools will be provided by the tutor. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book.
Please Bring With You
Optional:
Your own line drawing designs
Your own wood to work on - if bringing your own, it needs to be either Sycamore, Beech or Birch Ply
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment
