This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for a range of abilities including beginner
Workshop Details
Weave a small landscape or seascape from wool using a rigid heddle loom. The warp threads can be raised or lowered which allows enough time to complete a picture in a day.
Tapestry pictures are often woven on a simple frame. It can be a slow process. If you use a rigid heddle loom, it can be much quicker to weave a picture with lots of horizontal lines. Seascapes without high cliffs or landscapes without steep hills are ideal. Weaving with two closely coloured yarns or unevenly dyed ones give interesting effects. You will be also be able to practice techniques such as meet and separate which work well on a simple frame. Setting up and weaving on a simple frame will be demonstrated. If you bring one, you will have the opportunity to set one up to take home.

Materials are not included in your booking fee. The approximate cost of these will be £5. Angela would like you to donate this to one of the school’s supported charities.
