Wed 18th May 10am - 12pm
(UK timings)
This LivePlus™ online workshop is ideal for anyone wanting to explore mixed media techniques. No experience necessary and you don’t need to be able to draw – this is not a botanical painting class!
Workshop details
We will look at creating a lively, colourful impression of summer flowers using a variety of different media & techniques. We will paint, print, layer & spatter, combining a range of approaches. Techniques taught will include inventive markmaking with different tools (even a bit of finger-painting!), painting loosely with acrylics or watercolours & gouache, and expressive linework with pastels & pens.
First we will look at ways to simplify flower forms and capture their essence without worrying about the detail. Then, using acrylic paints or watercolours & gouache, we will create loose interpretations of flowers and foliage with the emphasis on big blocks of colour and tone. We will add a final layer of marks, pattern elements and linework to create depth and selective detail.
Students are encouraged to work along with Karen 'live' to produce a range of summer flowers during this fun and informal workshop. The class will still be recorded and all students will be provided with access to watch the recording as many times as they like for 30 days.
