Tutor Anne Hellyer
10am - 4pm
(Lunch 12.30 - 1.00pm)
This two-day, onsite workshop is designed for beginners with some experience of machine sewing and those more advanced
Workshop Details
I will begin the workshop talking through how I create my painted fabric. Then, using a photograph of your own house, or a favourite building, you will learn how to use this to create your own design, including how to enlarge or change the dimensions of your picture with or without the aid of a computer. (Please note: A computer will not be available during the course.)
You will then learn how to make a simplified drawing of the building, moving on to select the fabrics needed for each element of your design. The design is stitched using free machine embroidery. Full instruction and help will be given to those new to this technique. You will add details with further paint, stitch and additional fabrics where needed, producing a finished piece of unique art and textile work.
This can be made into a small book cover, cushion, picture or even wall hanging. At the end of the class there will be time for a question and answer session to give you a chance to refresh yourselves on any of the techniques and design points.
Skills / Techniques Covered
