This LivePlus™ online workshop is ideal for beginners, improvers, dreamers, people with time on their hands… No experience needed, this is just pattern-making for the sheer pleasure of it.
Workshop details
Have some creative fun developing border patterns and simple repeat images to make decorative labels, bookmarks, or borders for gifts or maybe to enhance calligraphy. No experience needed, this is just pattern-making for the sheer pleasure of it.
Although originally developed as pre-calligraphy practice, these patterns are just fun to make, and it’s up to you where you choose to add them in your own creative work. No calligraphy skills are expected.
Starting with simple zigzags we’ll explore more complex repeat forms, then you start combining them, building them up, trying two sizes of pen, or two colours, and suddenly more ideas start to occur, and it gets quite addictive.
In addition to lines of repeat patterns, making designs and simple images such as stars, flowers, seagulls start to open a new area of exploration.
Whether you want to work along with Mary during the workshop, or choose to just watch and learn, is up to you. All students will be given access to the workshop recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
