Workshop details
Join Gemma Black in this four-part series exploring the late 18th & early 20th centuries Art Deco movements that changed decorative and design history throughout the art-world across the globe.
In this practical and hands-on course, we will study drawn and pen lettering from the period. Working in ink and watercolour or gouache, we will design like Charles Rennie Mackintosh & Margaret McDonald, as well as the American Roycrofter Dard Hunter.
Looking deeper into the history of Art Deco we will explore the Austrian Wiener Werkstätte secessionist movement which was the catalyst for all things new and decorative throughout Europe and further afield. Our work will result in some substantial modernistic designs.
Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstrations – they are a time to watch, ask and learn. After each session you will be given a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
