This two-day, onsite workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience
Workshop Details
Weave a beautiful willow bread basket. Beginners will be guided in working with buff and white willow to create a round base on day one and complete the sides and border on day two. Those with some experience can choose to make a base into a flower plus a second small base on day one and intermediate weavers can add more complex borders on day two
Skills / Techniques Covered
Beginners will cover making a 3x3 slath and pairing with basic joins, selecting and upsetting uprights, 3 rod waling, false French randing and a trac or 3 rod border.
Intermediate weavers can cover a 3x3 slath , pairing with secure or underside joins, upsetting, 3 rod or chasing waling, French randing and a 3 or 4rod border of choice.
Materials
Materials are not include in the booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £20, payable to the tutor during the workshop. The items you will need to bring with you are listed below:
Students - please bring with you:
An apron and a pair of sharp secateurs if you have some.
Those with basketry tools bring snips, bodkin, grease and rapping iron.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
