This one-day workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience
Workshop Details
Painting in either oils or acrylics, we will be looking to capture the beauty of both the flowers and the glass bottle. We will look at how to arrange, light and crop the floral composition, photographing it with different coloured backgrounds, looking to create interesting and unusual compositions and colour relationships.
Set up your own still life or take some photos with your i-Pad to paint from. We will look at ways of applying the paint in a dynamic and interesting way: focusing on colour, brushwork and composition.

Materials
Matererials are not included in the booking fee.
Some materials will be available to purchase from the tutor on the day. 12” x 12” Canvases & panel boards (£7), student grade paints and brushes (£4.50) payable to the tutor during the workshop.
Students - please bring with you if you have them:
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.

- A canvas or ampersand smooth panel board (min 12” x 12”, max 16” x 20”)
- A selection of synthetic brushes eg:
- Daler Rowney System 3: short flat ¼”, ½”, ¾”.
- Daler Rowney System 3 filbert size 2
- Small round size 1 synthetic brush
- A spotlight or angle-poise desk lamp if painting from life. The school has a number of these to if you need to borrow one.
- An I-pad or tablet, if you wish to paint from a photo.
- Palette knife - Winsor and newton size 22 or similar.
- Artist quality oil or acrylic paint colours as follows - Titanium White, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium red, Alizarine Crimson, Permanent Rose, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, French Utramarine, Phthalo Blue (and any others you have).
- A flat mixing palette - tear off paper palettes are fine. (£2 in ‘The Works’).
- A box to take your work home in.
- Some rags or plenty of tissues to wipe brushes clean.
- A ‘stay-wet’ palette (Acrylics only).
- ‘Liquin’ painting medium (Oils only).
- A jar and some low odour thinners/white spirit substitute for cleaning your brushes (Oils only).
