Workshop details
By popular request, this two-part beginners course will look at the basics of silk ribbon embroidery.
Silk ribbon embroidery is fun, easy to master and very versatile. The three-dimensional effect of this soft, tactile form of needlework is one of its most endearing qualities. Pure silk ribbons are the only ribbons fine enough to slip through the eye of a needle and then though fabric to create delicate silk flowers. Silk ribbon embroidery uses a few stitching techniques that are unique, but do not let this put off as they are very easy to learn.
Jacqueline will guide you through the dynamics of various techniques and stitches to create a variety of summer flowers and leaves during this introductory course. Some of the flowers included in this introduction will be Forget-Me-Knots, Impatiens, Roses, and Rose buds. Remember that Mother Nature is not perfect, and so our ribbon embroidery flowers do not have to be either. It’s all about colour, balance, tension and texture … and of course the skills you will learn.
Whether you want to work along with Jacqueline during the classes, or choose to just watch and learn, is up to you. All students will be given access to the recordings, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
