Tutor Debbie Page
10am - 4pm
(Lunch is provided 12.30 - 1.00pm)
This one-day workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience
Workshop Details
Texture has been used to decorate clay pots from the earliest times, eg the ancient Jomon pottery from Japan.
Spend a day with Debbie, exploring textures and making a unique dish (or 2)
The idea behind these textured dishes is to create a highly personal piece of clay art. Debbie will show you the basic techniques of rolling out the clay, impressing the texture into the clay and then forming the dishes, however the choice of texture is entirely in your hands.
Debbie has many artifacts with which to make texture – found objects, fabric, sprig moulds, wooden print blocks etc etc. Please feel free to bring along textured items that you like or are important to you.
Skills/Techniques Covered
Materials
Materials are not included in your booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £25-30, payable to the tutor during the course. This includes clay, glazes and firings. If students are unable to collect from Ardington or tutor’s home, postal delivery can be arranged for an additional charge.
Please remember to bring card, cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.
Please bring with you:
Apron, sketch book and pencils, any items with textures which can be used on clay, eg fabric, wooden stamps, shells, bark
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
