Tutor Sarah Maddison
10am - 4pm
(Lunch provided 12.30 - 1.00pm)
This one-day workshop is designed for beginners with a little know-how and those with more experience
Workshop Details
In this workshop we will explore the decorative beauty of the historic Delft tile. Using only paint and stitch we will produce an antiqued fabric tile (13cms x 13cms) which can be framed or which could become part of a set, should you choose to make more at home. We will combine elements from a number of existing tile images to create your very own personal design in the traditional blue and white colours. Once your design is painted and stitched you will add further embellishment with beads.
Skills / Techniques Covered
We will use acrylics to create the base for your design and then stitch it before adding further embellishment using hand stitching, embroidery and beads. We will also work with some synthetic gold leaf and metallic gilding pastes.
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. Most materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £10, payable to the tutor during the workshop.
