Tutor: Simon Sonsino
Mon 26th September 10am - 12pm
(UK timings)
This LivePlus™ online workshop is designed for anyone interested in creating art with letterform. It is suitable for complete beginners as well as those familiar with calligraphy and mark-making who are looking to 'free up' their style.
Workshop details
Join Simon for a two-hour exploration of his unique art. He will briefly look at the artists that have inspired him to create his own Textual Art, and then go on to work through a set of exercises creating abstract letterform with different mark-making tools.
TEXTUAL: Adjective - Of, or pertaining to, text and letterform
ART: Noun - The product of imagination and creativity
You don’t need any calligraphic experience - this isn’t a workshop that relies on straight lines, neat handwriting or legibility. This is all about creating abstract letterform with different mark-making tools. We'll be working through a selection of exercises and techniques that will see you create inspirational samples to inspire your future work.
This class is a pressure-free zone - there are no rules and no rights or wrongs. Getting messy is encouraged and having a sense of humour is a must! During the workshop, Simon will show you some techniques from his two books, as well as some brand new techniques for 2022.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be given a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
