Tutor: Karen Carter
Wed 21st September 10am - 12pm
(UK timings)
This LivePlus™ online workshop is an ideal follow on for one of Karen's Introduction to Acrylics or the Acrylics: Layer by Layer class, but is equally suitable for beginners and improvers. No experience needed, just a big apron and a willingness to have a go.
Workshop details
In this two-hour workshop, Karen will show you how to use acrylics in a watercolour style. Using flora & fauna as our subject matter, we will splash, spatter, drip & draw using a range of tools and techniques stolen from watercolour painting; wet-in-wet, dip pens, salt effects, resists etc.
Using both acrylic inks and tube acrylics we will explore a multitude of techniques….some traditional and some a little more experimental! We will look at the use of mediums and compare the merits of ink versus paint on various surfaces.
We will combine textured grounds with fluid paint to produce interesting effects and throw in a bit of expressive mark-making with feathers, sticks and pens. A fun workshop exploring ways of working with this versatile medium in a fluid sloshy style….resulting in a series of small studies for your sketchbooks or mini works of art in their own right.
We would encourage you to have your paints ready to work along with Karen during the class, but you could also or choose to just watch and learn - the decision is up to you. All students will be given access to the recording of the class, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below.
