This one-day workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience
Workshop Details
Create a multi-layered book of work incorporating simple printing, collage, paint, and stencils to celebrate the colours and shapes of early autumn. We will layer images of leaves and seedheads from gelli plates, monoprints and handmade stamps, then collage the elements together in a concertina book to create a unique, mixed media piece of work.
Using a variety of hand-printed and found collage elements we will work through a series of stages creating layers, adding in washes of paint plus a bit of dripping and spattering! Having constructed an interesting base we will then work in a combination of transfer, paint & print using a limited colour palette to create our book pages. Further details, text & drawn elements can be added if required. This is a very organic and forgiving process - at any stage more paint, prints or collage can be added and reworked until you’re happy with the final result.
We will be working in a simple handmade concertina book as a way of holding all our ideas and techniques, which becomes not only a reference book, but also a beautiful object in its own right.
Bring a big apron and a willingness to experiment and play!
There will be lots of step-by-step demos and individual help in this fun & lively workshop.
