Tutor Sarah Maddison
10am - 4pm
(Lunch Provided 12.30 - 1.00pm)
This two-day workshop is suitable for those with a little sewing experience and those at a more intermediate level
Workshop Details
Who can resist a nifty little clutch purse when attending a wedding or an evening out? On this workshop you will make the perfect clutch/purse using free motion embroidery and using a landscape design of your own. With an attractive clasp and lined with your own choice of fabric (silk or cotton) you will stitch onto wool felt to make the outer layer and then sew the purse frame into place. You will be asked to select your choice of felt colour before the workshop.
Skills / Techniques Covered
We will use different textiles and various stitching techniques – straight stitching, free motion machine embroidery - you will create your purse landscape and then further embellish the pieces with hand stitching, embroidery and beads.
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these willbe £15, payable to the tutor during the workshop.
Students - please bring with you:
I will supply the wool felt and purse frame (part of your kit) but you will need to bring some extra fabrics in your choice of palette which can be added to provide shape or texture. These could include silk, velvet, hand dyed felts, organzas – you will only use tiny amounts, so please check your fabric stashes first!
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
