Workshop Details
Design your own wrapping paper, labels and cards made specifically for people who appreciate the trouble you’ve taken to make their gift special. Don’t worry if you haven’t much calligraphy experience, this is a fun day to personalise Christmas or other festive occasions.

We’ll start with a brief introduction to some calligraphic techniques, using felt-tips as well as dip pens especially if you have little or no calligraphy experience – you can use your handwriting.  In simple steps, we shall start with labels just playing with initials, then getting more ambitious with seasonal greeting messages or full names onto wrapping paper and build up a collection of festive paraphernalia with plenty of ideas for developing further at home.

If you feel ambitious, you can explore making simple hand-made one-off greetings cards, or for getting printed.

Skills / Techniques Covered
  • Brief overview of calligraphic writing
  • Using edged-pen and pointed-pen felt-tips for calligraphy
  • Simple ways to create labels, cards, wrapping paper and other ephemera
