This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. We would encourage you to have your paints ready to work along with Lucy during each class, but you could also choose to just watch and learn - the decision is up to you.
Workshop details
In this brand-new course, we will look at the theory of creating ‘notan’ (tonal value) studies and why it is an important tool for artists to explore different arrangements of light and dark elements within a composition before beginning a painting.
We will be focusing on practical ways to create strong designs and how to transfer a tonal value study onto our canvas or board prior to painting. We will also discuss how and why to premix paint colours - including which tools, mediums, surfaces, brushes, paints and techniques to use and how modern technology can help us identify the true colours in our compositions.
