This one-day workshop is suitable for beginners that have a basic knowledge of lino cutting and those wishing to take their skills further
Workshop Details
Learn how to go beyond the basics of the linoprinting process and venture into the world of reduction plates to produce a series of coloured prints in this structured but relaxed workshop.
Linoprinting is a great technique to do at home…..easy to learn, minimum equipment and a whole host of variations. Forget the blunt tools and tough lino of school days and enjoy the process with soft-cut lino and a carefully guided workshop.
This workshop expands on the basic techniques of linoprinting to explore colour, layering and simple registration.
We will be exploring the technique of reduction cutting using a single plate to produce a multicoloured, multi-layered image.
The tutor will provide templates to work from so you can maximise the time spent developing the plate and producing your prints. As each colour is printed, the plate is further cut away for the next colour until there is virtually nothing left of the plate! We will look at ways of making a basic registration device so all our layers match up beautifully.
By the end of the day you will have your own limited edition set of prints!
This is a great process that can be easily done at home with a minimum of specialist equipment. There will be lots of step-by-step demos and individual help in this fun & lively workshop.
The tutor will bring a variety of designs for you to use…….feel free to bring your own designs if you wish (no bigger than A5) – please have them worked out so that they can be divided into no more than 4 distinct layers.
There will be a brief refresher of cutting & inking techniques and step-by-step instruction in the reduction process.
Skills & Techniques Covered
