This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for students of all abilities. You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching this online demonstration – it is a time to watch, ask and learn.
Workshop details
Join Karen for an exciting exploration of the Winter landscape in monochrome media.
We'll be experimenting with inks, water-soluble pencils, and some simple mono-printing, as well as creative mark-making, textured grounds, scratching, spritzing & spattering - all to create interesting effects. This fun workshop covers a variety of techniques and includes lots of step-by-step instruction. No experience needed; just a willingness to play, experiment, and explore!
Different types of dry and wet monochrome media make for wonderfully versatile mediums, both individually and in combination with each other. We will explore numerous techniques, using a variety of materials, drawing on the winter landscape for inspiration. We will be working mainly in black & white with just a hint of colour to create atmospheric images and sampler sheets of techniques to try out our materials.
A multitude of effects can be created. From fine delicate linework to rich velvety tones and dramatic contrasts, we will be trying out some more unusual ways of using the mediums and the range of effects will be interesting and sometimes unexpected!
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Karen will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
