This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for those with some experience of working in oils or acrylics. There will be elements of work-along during this workshop and so we would encourage students to have their materials to hand during the class.
Workshop details
Together we will work through a stage-by-stage process to create a 'Pet Portrait in Oils or Acrylics' - using the ‘islands to oceans’ method of working. We are aiming to make the eyes come alive - we want to give the animal, and your finished painting, lots of personality!
You will be working from your own image, either on an iPad OR you can use a good quality printed photograph (at least 5” x 5”). The animal’s eyes must be clear and in focus, and you will need to crop your image so that it is square. The head of the animal should take up most of the frame. Remember, the better the reference image – the better the painting!
Throughout the workshop Lucy will offer live demonstrations, as well as new ideas and techniques to take away with you and apply to your future work.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Lucy will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
