This three-part LivePlus™ online course is ideal for beginners, but there is also the option to purchase a more advanced kit if you have made a teddy bear before. If you can thread a needle and sew on a button, you have all the sewing skills you need. Although this is not a work-along workshop, you may wish to have your materials to hand during the demonstrations.
Workshop details
Join Jacqueline from Jacqueline's Bears, and a small group of like-minded crafters, to learn all the techniques required to make this traditional, cotter pin jointed, ratinee mohair teddy bear.
The standard bear you will be building in this beginners' course is Nico (shown in the pictures above with a blue ribbon). Designed to resemble a classic 1920’s style heritage bear, Nico’s forefather is Felix; the original bear from Jacqueline’s 'Bramble Wood' collection. When finished, Nico stands at 22cm tall, with a paunch belly and 8mm glass bead eyes. His clipped upper snout, embroidered nose and mouth give him an appealing, huggable personality.
There will be an option for students who have previous experience of making bears to choose a more advanced bear to build instead. Tilly (shown in the photos above with a pink ribbon) is slightly smaller, standing at around 18cm tall, and is made of a sparse, directional mohair which is more challenging to work with.
All the facial features are hand embroidered on both bears, so each one is guaranteed to take on its own personality. (And of course, you are very welcome to call your bear whatever you want!)

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Jacqueline will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
