Workshop Details
Join Ian McManus - a highly experienced watercolourist - to paint atmospheric scenes of Venice which will of course include typical Venetian architectural elements, water,  gondolas and figures.  The subject matter can often seem very challenging however Ian’s demos and one to one support will help you improve your art work and simplify the subject.

Ian’s guidance through the creation of a painting per day helps improve your understanding of effective composition, accurate perspective and how connection of elements in your artwork and a clear focal point is vital to the success of good  picture creation. These core principles of simplified yet well placed elements in your initial drawing allow you to then progress to using strong tonal values and limited but lively pops of colour to give your Venetian scenes atmosphere and zing ; freeing you up to apply paint with confident and direct brushwork in a loose and lively manor to create more appealing  watercolour artworks filled with ambience and atmosphere.

Skills / Techniques Covered
  • Improved ability to draw the subject
  • Understanding composition and content to create defined focal point
  • How to simplify the subject dealing with the key points
